Author Guidelines

Our Author Guidelines provide a comprehensive framework for preparing and submitting manuscripts. Covering journal‑specific requirements, supporting authors in presenting clear and well‑structured research contributions.

Journal Specific Instructions

General Instructions for Authors

Before you submit a manuscript, please be sure to have carefully read the Instructions for Authors available for download here: https://www.thieme.de/statics/dokumente/thieme/final/de/dokumente/zw_synlett/Instr_ST_26_feb.pdf

Manuscript Templates

The manuscript templates for SYNLETT are provided to ease both manuscript preparation for authors and the peer-reviewing process for referees. Although it is not compulsory, you are strongly encouraged to use the manuscript templates. By doing so, you will be able to insert and arrange figures, schemes, and tables within the text. Slight deviations compared to the final layout may occur during the in-house production process, but the print preview of the manuscript template provides a very close representation of the final published document. Depending on the software package you are using, please choose and download the appropriate files from the following list.
Note that only a previous version of the template is available for earlier versions of Word, and although still acceptable for manuscript preparation, does not reflect the current journal layout.
In the event of problems downloading or using the templates, please consult the FAQ section or contact us by e-mail at synlett_synthesis@thieme.de. Be sure to mention your operating system, version of Word, and the article type you are preparing.

Thieme Policies

This section summarizes the Thieme-wide standards and guidelines. They provide a consistent framework, ensure uniform quality, and support clear, aligned workflows across the organization.

Open Access

Open Access Policy

Like all Thieme subscription journals, SYNLETT also offers you the possibility to publish your work open access. Open access articles are available freely to read, download, print out and share, immediately and permanently: readers have access to your research independently of their libraries' journal collection.
Some funding organizations require that the recipients of their grants publish the resulting research open access. SYNLETT can offer you creative commons licenses that comply with the stipulations of all funders and help you fulfill their mandate. Of course, open access articles undergo the same stringent, high-quality peer-review process than any other article.

Other

Archiving and Sharing Policy

If you wish or are required to publish your article in an institutional repository, please refer to the official Thieme archiving policy (Where can you deposit your paper?) explaining which version of your article you are allowed to publish after an initial embargo period.
Please also note that Thieme is a SHERPA/ROMEO blue publisher that allows posting of the final publishers' PDF on your personal website.
